Within a year, non degradable plastic bags, disposable plastic straws, non degradable disposable plastic tableware, and other related items are prohibited from being used in supermarkets and bookstores in central, municipal, and planned cities. It is prohibited to produce and sell ultra-thin plastic shopping bags with a thickness of less than 0.025mm and polyethylene agricultural films with a thickness of less than 0.01mm.

At the same time, in order to ensure the completion of the 2020 target in the plastic restriction order as scheduled, in June of the same year, 9 departments including the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the "Notice on Deepening the Development of the Plastic Industry" and "Plastic Pollution Control" to promote the smooth implementation of the plastic ban.

For industries such as e-commerce, express delivery, and delivery, the Opinion proposes to cultivate and optimize new industrial states and models. For example, e-commerce and delivery platforms need to strengthen the management of settled merchants, develop implementation plans to reduce the number of disposable plastic products, and publish the implementation status to the society; At the same time, actively promote recyclable, foldable packaging products and logistics distribution equipment; Encourage the use of integrated packaging for goods and material flow, and establish a recycling system for recyclable logistics distribution equipment.

In this case, biodegradable plastics are expected to become the preferred alternative material due to their similar characteristics and environmental protection to ordinary plastics. However, policies such as plastic restrictions and bans will promote the development of the biodegradable industry chain.
