  Vacuum packaging is a packaging method that removes air from the package before sealing. This method involves (manually or automatically) placing items in plastic film packaging, removing air from the inside and sealing the packaging. Shrink film is sometimes used to cling to objects. The purpose of vacuum packaging is usually to remove oxygen from the container to extend the shelf life of food, and flexible packaging is used to reduce the volume of contents and packaging.

  Vacuum packaging reduces the oxygen in the atmosphere, thereby limiting the growth of aerobic bacteria or fungi and preventing evaporation of volatile components.
