What does a bag in a box look like?

source:Industry News release time:2024-07-02 Hits:

A Bag in Box (BiB) package generally looks like an oversized carton box with a spout or tap coming out of one side. Here’s a detailed description of what a typical Bag in Box might look like:

1. **Outer Packaging**: The exterior is a rectangular cardboard box, similar in shape to a milk carton but often much larger, depending on the volume of liquid it contains. Sizes can range from small boxes holding a few liters up to large ones capable of containing 20 liters or more. The box is usually printed with the brand name, product details, nutritional information, and possibly serving suggestions.

2. **Inner Bag**: Inside the box, there is a flexible, sealed plastic bag made from food-grade materials. The bag is designed to hold the liquid content and is filled at the point of production. It is usually opaque to protect the contents from light, which can be detrimental to certain products like wine.

3. **Spout or Tap**: One end of the box features a spout or tap mechanism. The spout is often covered by a protective cover or seal that needs to be removed before first use. Once opened, the tap allows the user to dispense the liquid directly from the box, minimizing air exposure which can cause oxidation and spoilage.

4. **Box Opening**: The top of the box may have a removable flap or perforated section that opens to allow access to the spout. This flap is usually kept closed to maintain the integrity of the packaging and to keep the contents fresh.

5. **Handle**: Some larger Bag in Box packages may come with a handle on the top for easier carrying.

When not in use, the tap can be closed to prevent leaks and further exposure to air. The design is intended to be convenient for storage and pouring, particularly for large volumes of beverages like boxed wines, juices, or water.
